A US industrial manufacturer and distributor was planning inventory from disconnected systems and spreadsheets, and ended up with too much of some parts and not enough of others.
01The problem
Its ERP, spreadsheets and manual processes gave planners no single, current view of demand, stock and suppliers. The result was excess stock, stockouts, slow replenishment decisions and inefficient order fulfilment, and the problem grew as the business scaled.
02What was built
Intellectyx, an AI consultancy, built an inventory and operations platform on the company’s existing Microsoft Dynamics 365 system that brings inventory, supplier, demand and order data into one place.
Six AI agents sit on top of it, covering demand, inventory, replenishment, order allocation, sales and profitability. A control tower shows every part’s demand trend and risk, and each reorder suggestion waits for a planner to approve it.
03How it works
- 01Bring the data together
Inventory, supplier, demand and order data flow into one layer instead of separate spreadsheets.
- 02Forecast every part
Agents read demand patterns and supplier performance for each part number.
- 03Recommend the reorder
Replenishment and allocation suggestions arrive ready for a planner to review and approve.
- 04Watch the risks
A control tower shows overstock, stockout risk and part performance in real time.
04What changed
Intellectyx reports a 25% reduction in excess and slow-moving inventory, a 15% improvement in order fill rate, replenishment and fulfilment decisions about 30% faster, and half the manual inventory work. Stockouts on critical parts also fell.
What this could look like for your clients
Your manufacturing and distribution clients often have cash tied up in the wrong stock. A similar system could show which parts to stop buying and which to reorder, and free up that cash.
